Abstract
Cryptococcosis is subacute and chronic mycotic infectious disease caused by cryptococcus neoformans, a thin walled, nonmycelial, budding yeast 4 to 6 ¥ìm in diameter that is characterized by a thick polysaccharide capsule. Cryptococcus neoformans is found in soil and other environmental areas, especially those contaminated by pigeon droppings. Cryptococcosis is acquired by inhaling aerosols containing the yeast. Cryptococcal infection results in selflimited pulmonary disease in most healthy persons. The recent rise in incidence of the disease can be attributable to the wide use of corticosteroid in organ transplantations and autoimmune diseases as well as the advent of acquired immune deficiency syndrome. we described a case of pulmonary cryptococcosis in a patient with hepatocellular carcinoma and the literature on subject were reviewed. A fifty eight year-old male patient presented with coughing and sputum for 10days of duration. He had got lobectomy of liver due to hepatocellular carcinoma 1year ago.
